Important information regarding our Customs procedure when traveling back from vacation.

It’s summer time and this means travel time!

The Customs Department would like to inform you of our procedure when you travel back from vacation as well as what you must take into account in order to prevent any inconvenience upon arrival.

Upon arrival you can expect a inspection of your baggage’s. Therefore, it is important to have all receipts with you in case your baggage gets inspected.
If you have no receipts with you, Customs will automatically search for the price of an item and charge you import duties on an item without knowing beforehand that you may have purchased this item on a bargain.
Also, if during the inspection we discover that receipts surpass the maximum value (AWG 400,-) that is allowed free of charge of import duties, you will be kindly asked to pass by our office located the arrival hall to make a payment. On the other hand, travelers may also take the initiative to make a declaration of items. Please, do not wait till Customs does their inspection.

As you can see below, these are the maximum quantity that travelers are allowed to bring with an exemption of paying import duties and excise.

However, to get an exemption travelers must take into account that:
– They must be 16 years of age or older
– These items must be of personal use.

Note: There is no exemption to items that have commercial purposes.
For articles that are brought/imported for commercial purposes, you will have to contact a Customs Broker to make a declaration of the items. Merchants will need to show a copy of the registration of their company from the Aruba Chamber and Commerce as well as their company’s personal number in order to receive an approval for an Import Without Manifest (IWM declaration).

We kindly ask all travelers to take good note of the shared information to ensure a great vacation.
