Submit an Objection

Do you disagree with a decision or action by Customs that applies to you? Then you have the right to file an objection. An objection is a formal means of requesting Customs to reconsider a decision.

Please note: the deadline for submitting an objection is 30 days after receipt of the decision. In the case of an increase in customs value, the deadline is 3 days after receipt of the decision.

Who can submit an Objection?
Basically, only the declarant can submit an objection to the Inspector of Import Duties and Excise.

Is the submitter someone other than the declarant?
If the objection is submitted by someone other than the declarant (such as the importer, the importer’s representative, or the declarant’s representative), an authorization signed by the declarant is required. This authorization must contain the following details of the authorized representative: name, address, telephone number, and email address.

If your objection relates to your own request for exemption or to a decision by Customs addressed to you, it is not necessary to submit an authorization.

The link to the objection form will be displayed on this page on August 25 2025.

Please note: As of November 1, 2025, it will no longer be possible to submit objections on paper or by email. These submission methods will no longer be accepted.

File an Appeal

If you disagree with the Inspector’s decision on your objection, you may file an appeal with the Court of First Instance of Aruba, J.G. Emanstraat 51, Oranjestad, within one month of the date of the decision.
